No 44 - FRANCES PALMER
“I tried to keep it loose and let it go,” says potter Frances Palmer of this essence-of-summer ceramic pitcher, created exclusivley for Whisper and curated by the design goddess Pilar Viladas (Whisper'e new design curator-at-large). Striped in two patterns of nautical blue and white—the wide stripes were painted on, the thin ones carved from a wash of pigment—it’s perfect for holding the milk for your morning coffee, a few wildflowers, or a post-beach cocktail. Each jug stands approximately 6 inches high and is 4.5 inches wide. All are hand-thrown from earthenware and blue slip and no two are exactly alike. As for Viladas's reasoning for selecting Palmer, "I thought it would be great to collaborate with Frances because I've always liked the way that she takes traditional ceramic forms and techniques for a contemporary spin."
